Oracle Response is a feedback method I learned from Berta Beatriz.  The method involves a solo dancer dancing and being witnessed.  When the soloist is done, the witness dances a response to the soloist.  This response might be an extension of an idea that the soloist posed, it might be a counter point, it might be a play in opposites.  There are many choices.  After the witness dances, the soloist dances again, incorporating ideas from the witness’ dance.

For this Oracle Response, I worked with material for the collaboration Women at Water’s Edge/Mujeres al Filo del Agua. I took video footage from one of Miroslava Wilson’s done during the Grinnell residency, and while watching the video I danced with her solo.  I then videotaped my solo.  Using iMovie, I layered both solos together to create a duet that we could then reconstruct in a live version.
