Funded by a National Performance Network Creation Fund grant, Women at Waters Edge/Mujeres al Filo del Agua is a bi-national collaboration between Dora Arreola (Tampa/Tijuana), Miroslava Wilson (Tijuana) and Celeste Miller (Grinnell). Through short, intensive, face to face creative residencies we have been building material for the work that will premiere at the Florida Dance Festival Summer 2019.

To date residencies have occurred in Tijuana, Grinnell and Tampa. In Tijuana, we spent one session at the Mexico/USA border with a site specific investigation. Upon return to the US, I created a movement sequence drawn from a tactile/emotional memory of the experience and my memories of movements created. I created a video splicing images from La Playa with the newly reformed phrase material. In our next residency, this new phrase of material was incorporated into the choreography.
